The Ventura County SELPA is pleased to share the revised Local Plan. Click Here to review.
All SELPAs are required to submit their Local Plan to the California Department of Education (CDE) for approval using the newly adopted template by June 30, 2020 (an extension to include the 2020-2021 school year has been provided due to COVID-19).
The purpose of the Local Plan is to:
- Outline the special education policies/procedures and services that are offered throughout the SELPA.
- To assure access to special education and related services for all individuals with exceptional needs residing within the geographic areas served by the plan
- To assure compliance with all Federal and State codes and statutes
Over the 2019-2020 school year, the Ventura County SELPA in collaboration with our Community Advisory Committee (CAC) and other stakeholder groups/members developed a local plan committee and cooperatively advised, revised and edited the plan to meet the needs of our SELPA and the new template.
We encourage you to review the revised plan over the next 30 days per Education Code 56205 (b) (7). If you would like to provide feedback please respond here.
Final approval of the Ventura County SELPA Local Plan will be discussed and determined at the Superintendents’ Policy Council on June 19, 2020. If approved, all member districts within the Ventura County SELPA will have the 2020-2021 school year to obtain approval within their own governing board/district.
