BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS

Sometimes students who receive Special Education services also demonstrate behaviors which are challenging in the classroom or school setting.  Often, the behaviors stem from the disability itself, such as aGlobe with the word behavior communication, regulation or sensory challenge.  As educators, it is our job to understand the cause of these behaviors and provide accommodations and supports to address these needs while also teaching our students other more appropriate ways to get their needs met.

Students with challenging behaviors will have IEP goals to address the new skills being taught, as well as services and strategies to address those needs. Teachers and other educators are expected to address these skills with the same integrity and fidelity as when teaching core curriculum skills.
