This is Day One of VC SELPA’s Behavior Intervention Training. The focus of this workshop is to “provide an environment in all instructional areas that promote appropriate behavior from our students and supports their attempts to reach that goal.” (Mesaros) The philosophy is to teach the student to be in control of his/her behavior, rather than be controlled through intimidation.

Series Overview: This series of trainings will provide skills and competencies for staff to be able to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and develop Comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (CBIP).
Participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of Principles of PBI / ABA
- Match Function of Behavior to Interventions
- Analyze behavioral data for trends and implications
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and write reports compliant with California Education Code
- Develop Behavior Intervention Plans
- Conduct ongoing evaluation and consultation on Behavioral Intervention Plans
Note: This workshop will help meet requirement toward 3-hour PBI recertification, however, all professional staff working with behavior interventions are welcome to attend.
